OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Our guest speaker/presenter for the 2010 awards was Mr Fred Dinenage the popular news presenter who started his media days as a tea boy at the Birmingham Mail. He then went on to work his way up when he got his big break working with Annie Nightingale. Besides How and his quiz-show roles, Fred is of course a long-serving and much-respected regional news presenter. He started out as a newsreader for Southern TV in the 1960s, and has remained in the south of England through all the changes in the ITV network, working for Southern's successors TVS (on the highly popular evening news show Coast To Coast) and Meridian , for whom he is still a regular news presenter to this day. Another of Fred's great passions is sport, and especially soccer. He has been a match reporter and occasional host of ITV's World of Sport, fronted ITV's coverage of the 1972 Olympic Games, and is on the board of Portsmouth FC.
