LOOKING BACK AT THE 2009 AWARDS REPORT: Coleman's Construction wins the Successful Businesses representing all aspects of the 1066 area commercial life were acknowledged at 1066 Business Awards at Azur, Marina Pavilion in March 2009. The award winning venue Azur, was full for the event organised by Teresa Nemeth (The Observer group) and Jonathan Dolding (Ten Sixty Six Enterprise). Everyone enjoyed a three course meal, executed wonderfully by the Azur. Nearly 70 entries were received for this year's award, indicating the towns business community is in good health despite the difficult economy. Guest speaker Sally Gunnell OBE (former Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth Champion) inspired businesses by talking about her motivation and success of her career. She later, together with category sponsors, presented the awards. The event was co-hosted by Chief Executive Graham Marley and Business Broker, Events Organiser Jonathan Dolding from Ten Sixty Six Enterprise . Tony Shrimpling, HSBC, Head of Commercial for East Sussex presented the Overall Business of the Year to Barry Coleman (Managing Director) and Gerald McGuigan (Operations Director) at Coleman's Construction. A very much deserved runner up for the Overall business of the year was Westridge Construction. HSBC the main sponsor for the event created their brand image with white and red flower centrepieces by Fleur de Lynn and white chair covers with red sashes by Bows Hire. Nigel Bishop the Commercial Manger for HSBC, commented: “For the fifth year running, HSBC are delighted to sponsor the 1066 Business Awards. Despite the struggling economy it is great to see so many people attending the event and the atmosphere here is great!” HSBC has long been one of the world's most strongly capitalised banks and has not sought capital support from the UK government.
